Current role/ brief description of your position
Currently on the Global Medical Strategy team at BMS supporting Eliquis. I contribute to the development of brand strategies as well as the downstream generation and communication of data/content to local markets across our Alliance with Pfizer. One of my main responsibilities is the communication of our competitors’ activities and their clinical implications.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the face paced, matrix environment. Collaborating with stakeholders across different functional areas is a valuable experience in learning from the expertise of other very smart people with very different perspectives.
I also enjoy working as a part of a joint venture alliance. I think this has allowed me to develop a unique skill set in project/people management. Working toward a common goal across very different companies is not always an easy thing to do, but a very important and valuable experience.
Tips and advice for anyone seeking the same position and how one can succeed in the industry.
There are two pieces of advice I think most relevant for anyone seeking a position in the pharmaceutical industry. First is to research and learn as much as possible about available positions. This includes meeting with fellows or other employees that do that job or have knowledge of it. Once you understand the details of the positions as much as possible, the second piece of advice is to follow your passion. If a candidate does these two things, they will have optimized their ability to get a position as well as do well once in it.
