A New Way to Fight Antibiotic Resistance
Scientists at Rockefeller University, inspired by bacteria killing viruses, created a novel molecule called "lysibodies". This is a hybrid of antibodies and lysins, which is a component of viruses that bind to carbs that are commonly present on bacteria. So far, they have tested this new molecule on mice against Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA, and have received favorable outcomes.
